Why Coatings and not RNG
Because natural-mutation odds are not published, Coatings are the deterministic path to a known mutation. Use an Ore Cleanser ($1M) to strip a low-tier mutation before applying a higher one.

Single ore versus portfolio
Galaxy on one ore (×5) is more efficient than five Rusty slots (×1.5 each) only if you can keep that ore producing at high tier. For lower wallets, Crystal and Void across multiple slots usually win.
